In light of rumors surfacing today about a threat to our campus, I want to reassure you that many of these rumors are unfounded and there is not a threat to our campus. I also want to share with you what we believe is the impetus for the rumors.
There was a conversation among students on Wednesday last week, during which a student made statements regarding bringing a gun to school. Some of the students felt uneasy about the comments and, rightfully so, reported it to administrators.
The student was immediately taken in for questioning by our School Resource Officer. The Temecula Police Department conducted a complete investigation and ultimately found the alleged threat was not credible. The District additionally conducted a threat assessment, which includes having the student speak with a district psychologist, who also felt the threat was not credible. While we cannot speak to specifics regarding student discipline, we can say that there was a consequence to this student’s actions.
I would like to reaffirm to you that I am committed to ensuring that your child will be safe while on campus at Great Oak High School. I continue to ask you to trust in our staff and our ability to lead and provide your student with a safe academic learning environment
