The Great Oak Granny bringing the rivalry

Aimee Ricken

Aimee Ricken, Principal GOHS

Mrs. Aimee Ricken

2016-2017 was a fantastic year for GOHS! We earned a Gold Ribbon for our strand release day Model Program, we earned an Exemplary Gold Ribbon for our amazing Visual and Performing Arts program, and we are the first school in Riverside County to earn a Green Ribbon for excellence in resource efficiency, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability education.

A little about Mrs. Ricken...I attended Escondido High School before earning a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Michigan where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Literature--GO BLUE! Upon graduating from Michigan, I pursued a profession in Division I college coaching. For the next five years, I coached at three universities: first at the University of South Alabama, then the University of Toledo and finally, I returned to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After years coaching and recruiting, my husband and I settled in Temecula to start a family. I earned my CA teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos before joining TVUSD in 2000 as an English teacher at Temecula Valley HS. After three years at TV, I was hired as part of the English staff to open Great Oak High School and start the girl's volleyball program. I am so happy to have been involved from the Wolfpack's inception. As an original member of GOHS's English department, I taught every grade level and most courses we offer. From English 9-12, Sheltered English, AP Language and Composition and for seven years, I taught our International Baccalaureate Higher Level year one English students. After completing a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University, I moved into administration at GOHS and I currently lead a hard working and dedicated admin team.

I miss the classroom everyday but I am so blessed to serve and support an amazing staff!

Great Oak is a special place with dedicated students and staff that continue to grow and excel.

We believe in the strength and the SPIRIT of the PACK!

When I am not at GOHS, I'm with my family!
