Audience: IB Program

Here is our IB Overview Presentation from our recent GOHS Spring Showcase.  Thanks to all of you who came seeking the information. If you were unable to make it, this offers a broad overview of the program itself as well as suggesting curricular choices at GOHS for 9th and 10th graders.

If you have any available time, we could definitely use your help as a volunteer proctor for AP or IB testing this May. By using volunteers, we are  able to save money to purchase extra supplies and such; However, one of the most powerful parts of the process is the positive attitude our parents bring with them to the exams.  Last year they were happy, willing participants in the process, and that makes the testing environment amazing!

Who can proctor?  Anyone 18 or older who can commit to the time slot will work.  That includes alumnae, grandparents, cousins, parents, older brothers and sisters, service groups, etc.  There will also be certificated staff present, so the role is primarily helping to distribute materials, monitor and assist students, and collect materials.  One of our proctors last year sent me an email stating:

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to help.  It was inspiring to see the students working so hard and finishing the AP course.  Let me know if you need any help next year.

‚ÄčI am attaching two live links so you can see what is still open in real time!  We will also host a proctor meeting in April, so don't worry that you don't know what to do. It is really easy and we can help.

Thanks so much.  If you would like to sign up for a spot, or talk about any of this, please contact January King at jking@tvusd.k12.ca.us, or Deeann Treto at dtreto@tvusd.k12.ca.us.

Great Oak High School is currently encouraging students interested in the rigorous IB program to consider submitting their transfer package to Mrs. King.  We are excited for you to be a part of our program.  We highly encourage you to come as a ninth grader so that we can ensure you are on the right curricular pathway. However, students in 9th and 10th are encouraged to submit their information for consideration and conversation.

Please see the transfer paperwork in the Notes Section to your right on the GOHS IB website under IB Transfers.

Please use the link below to access the GO-IB school profile for the 2016-2017 school year.  This link is accessible for all to view and may offer insights into the size and strength of our IB program for individuals.  It is a powerful tool to use when submitting your applications as well.  The UC Admissions office asks that you include this link somewhere in additional notes or in your personal statement.
