AP Readiness 2017-2018

THE DATE FOR THE FOURTH AP READINESS WORKSHOP IS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16TH, 2017

TRIP SLIPS ARE DUE BY DECEMBER 13TH, 2017

TRIP SLIP ATTACHED AND REGISTRATION LINK INCLUDED

GOHS students have the opportunity to attend the AP Readiness program at UCR in order to receive supplemental, supportive instruction in their respective AP/IB courses.

The intent of the workshops is to provide instructional support to AP and IB students in the following STEM courses:

  • Biology, Chemistry, Env. Science and Physics
  • Calculus, Statistics, Computer Science Principles
  • English Language and English Literature

The workshops run one Saturday each month leading up to the AP exams.  They are all different, and they are organized to match the curricular development in each subject.   A student may go to just one, a few, or all eight workshops.  A student who attends all of them would receive 32 additional instructional support hours - FREE OF CHARGE!

The district provides busing for students, although students can also just show up to UCR.  The process is:

Step One:

Student must register for workshop.  Here is the link.

Once a student registers for the first one, he/she doesn't need to register again this year.

Step Two:
If student wishes to ride the bus, he/she downloads the trip slip attached, fills it out, and returns it to his or her AP teacher, or to Mrs. Treto in the SPIRIT center.  Students may also get themselves to UCR as long as they arrive no later than 8:45 a.m.  They must be picked up at 2:00 p.m.

YOU ONLY NEED A TRIP SLIP IF YOU PLAN TO RIDE THE BUS.  OTHERWISE, YOU CAN JUST REGISTER, OR IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GONE TO THE FIRST ONE, YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP!

There will be a change, and I think an improvement, to the FASFA process for the Class of 2017.  I have attached a link to a Forbes article that discusses the change and how it can impact families financially, and how it can help in applying to colleges you can actually afford.

At the bottom of the article there are some great links regarding colleges as well.

Happy reading.
