AP Readiness 2017-2018

THE DATE FOR THE FIFTH AP READINESS WORKSHOP IS

SATURDAY, JANUARY 27TH, 2018

TRIP SLIPS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 24TH
, 2018

TRIP SLIP ATTACHED AND REGISTRATION LINK INCLUDED

So far this year over 400 GOHS students have attended the AP Readiness program at UCR in order to receive supplemental, supportive instruction in their respective AP/IB courses.

The intent of the workshops is to provide instructional support to AP and IB students in the following STEM courses:

  • Biology, Chemistry, Env. Science and Physics
  • Calculus, Statistics, Computer Science Principles
  • English Language and English Literature

The workshops run one Saturday each month leading up to the exams.  They are all different, and they are organized to match the curricular development in each subject.   A student may go to just one, a few, or all eight workshops.  A student who attends all of them would receive 32 additional instructional support hours - FREE OF CHARGE!

The district provides busing for students, although students can also just show up to UCR.  The process is:

Step One:

Student must register for workshop.  Here is the link.

AP Readiness Registration Link

Once a student registers for the first one, he/she doesn't need to register again this year.

Step Two:
If student wishes to ride the bus, he/she downloads the trip slip attached, fills it out, and returns it to his or her AP teacher, or to Mrs. Treto in the SPIRIT center.  Students may also get themselves to UCR as long as they arrive no later than 8:45 a.m.  They must be picked up at 2:00 p.m.

YOU ONLY NEED A TRIP SLIP IF YOU PLAN TO RIDE THE BUS.  OTHERWISE, YOU CAN JUST REGISTER, OR IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GONE TO THE FIRST ONE, YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP!

For more information please contact January King at jking@tvusd.k12.ca.us or Deeann Treto at dtreto@tvusd.k12.ca.us

Last year 11th and 12th grade students were invited to apply for NHS if they had a 3.6 cumulative GPA.  However, we know that some students may have risen to a 3.6 as a result of the second semester of 10th grade. It is also possible that a new student has entered GOHS as an 11th or 12th grader with a 3.6 cumulative GPA. In this case, you would not have received a letter last year, but should this year.

If you did NOT receive an NHS invitation letter last year and believe you should have, please see Mrs. King in the SPIRIT center or Mrs. Casady in Room 306 immediately. We can confirm if this is the case, give you the letter of invitation, and then you can complete the application.

If you have any questions, please stop by and see us when you can!
