The PSAT test is now on sale for Juniors for our October 11th test date at Great Oak High School, which will take place during the day for our College & Career Kickoff Day.
The test is on sale for $16 online at Webstore or with the bookkeeper. (Take your receipt to counseling where you will pick up your PSAT 2017 Guide). To be considered for National Merit Scholarships, Juniors must take this test their Junior year. The Junior year test is specifically needed to qualify for the scholarship. Benefits include the following: scores can lead to National Merit Scholarships, recipients and finalists can become eligible for corporate scholarships. In some cases, grants could cover full tuition, good scores can indicate performance on the SAT and provide more free practice paired with Khan Academy's partnership exams-tools. Lastly, your performance will empower you with the information you need to design an SAT study plan that will help you earn your best possible score. See attachments below for the PDF of the Official PSAT Student Guide describing the test and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying factor for more information, including a Master Timeline-College Admission provided by the official PSAT/AP Partner (Khan Academy).

The counseling office has arranged several college representatives to visit at various times and dates throughout the next few months. You can find information about the visits on the following form:  College Representative SCHEDULE at GOHS

CSS/Financial Aid

CSS/Financial Aid Profile

The CSS/Financial Aid profile is a financial aid application process used by some Private/Independent Colleges, Institutions, and Scholarship Programs. The CSS Profile does NOT replace the FAFSA or CalGrant – it is a supplement application that some of the college, institutions, and scholarship program require.

Do I need to do/deal with the CSS/Financial Aid Profile?

For some Private/Independent Colleges, Institutions, and Scholarship Programs only. The CSS Profile is NOT used by Public/State Colleges.

Review the list of institutions and scholarship programs to see if they require/encourage it - Click this link to review list

If your institution or scholarship program is NOT on the list – Then NO – you don’t need to do it.

What is the CSS/Financial Aid Profile?
